Quick Update – 2-25-23

ChatGPT has been putting in hours of work for me. I have been getting lots of content written and posted on my sites and it’s starting to get rankings for my sites.

One of my mentors, Marcus Campbell talks about hijacking or rather a using “traffic boosters” to get ranked for keywords.

What that means is you utilize guest blog posts, press release sites and social media properties that can easily rank for higher competition keywords.

Create content and send the traffic from the site like PRLog.com or medium.com to your site.

I don’t fully understand the method, because I am not sure if I should be optimizing my site for the same keyword as the other property or if I am just relying on the other site to send traffic to an offer that I am generating the traffic for. For example:

If I wanted to rank for “dog training guide” and I believed I could rank for it using medium.com, would I create an informational article on the topic and post it on medium and link to my site or to the offer?

I think both are viable but I also believe that one may be for short term and the other for long term.

For short term I’d just put an affiliate link to the product I’m promoting – “dog training guide” – and utilize the easier to rank for site to quickly gain a highly trafficked site’s popularity power.

The long term play would be to, I think, write or create videos for the same keyword on multiple sites and link them all back to my main site for the “link juice” combined to make my site the authority.

I think that last sentence I wrote just clarified to me what I’d been missing in my thoughts.

Which is now starting to make more sense with the ChatGPT suggestions Marcus Campbell makes in one of his more recent Youtube videos.

Time to get to work testing this theory out. And, if I document my finding and they are positive as I am expecting then I will also have my own product to sell – and it won’t be a “dog training guide”!
